Weir Valves & Controls Signs Agreement with KEPCO of South Korea
Following passage of a new free trade agreement between the two countries, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced today that multiple British firms have signed contracts with South Korean technology companies.
Among them: a £17.5 million deal between Weir Valves & Controls and KEPCO to manufacture safety and severe service control valves for nuclear reactors.
“These deals are a fantastic example of the enormous potential for Yorkshire when world-leading British engineering links up with international players," Clegg said in remarks from the global headquarters of Samsung in Seoul.
“Our contract with KEPCO demonstrates the strength and quality of mission critical nuclear equipment from Weir Valves & Controls, as well as its ability effectively to serve important international markets from its Yorkshire base,” said Weir Group CEO Keith Cochrane.
