Ideas for solenoid valve control
I want to hook up an inexpensive sprinkler solenoid valve and have it activate (open) when my CO2 gen comes on and deactivate (close) when it goes off. I am looking to water cool the gen. exhaust and drain this water to waste. I think it would be better than returning it to my chiller res since this water will be very warm to hot and will run the hell outta my chiller and elect. Any ideas are appreciated. I know the valves are dc and therein lies my problem. I've got some time before I'll be using the gen. so we can kick around ideas for a while and hopefully come up with a simple inexpensive method of controlling the valve.
home depot sells 120v regular plugin timed solenoid hosebib deals, pretty slick...otherwise buy the correct voltage/size power supply, with a relay wired to the generator gidget, or maybe through a "clixon switch" for hydronic changeover...home depot/lowes...or you could rig a a bimetalic spring from an old carburetor, to the arm of a ball valve with some fishing string.
really though id go to ur local plumbing supply and buy a threaded 3/4" taco 2way normally closed 120v zone valve and wire an extension cord into it, plug that into a pwer strip off the timer for the generator. id get a brass nipple and industrial grade hose bib fittings for it, and pvc hose bib fittings on to pvc for the rest...but thats just me.
